Netscaler 11 passphrase requirements when importing PKCS12

When importing a PKCS12 certificate bundle on your NetScaler you can run into some cryptic error messages. A known limitation of special characters used for passphrases can be found here.

However, when importing a PFX bundle for a client on their NetScaler I ran into this cryptic message: CRL Refresh Disabled”

After searching for an extensive period for this specific message and no result I tried to simplify the process as much as possible. As it turned out, using the special character “\” triggered this error. Removing the “\” from the passphrase solved the error and I could import the PFX bundle without any problem.
